Today's Idiom: Gilding the Lily

"Gilding the Lily" is an English idiom that means to over-do something, or to over-decorate something that is already beautiful. Literally speaking, lilies are very beautiful, flamboyant, and colorful flowers. To gild something means to cover it with gold.
